About

Taylor Ambrosio Wood is an American composer and game designer based in the Pacific Northwest. She currently works as a freelance video game composer, and as a game developer at her game development studio, Nostromo Interactive.

Music:
Taylor holds a master’s degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games from The Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, and a bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance from the Boston Conservatory of Music. Her compositional style reflects her many years as a percussionist. At age 9, she began playing the Zimbabwean marimbas and mbira in Ashland, Oregon. At 15, she enrolled in online high school to graduate early while studying music at Southern Oregon University. She was the first percussionist to be a soloist with the Oregon Youth Symphony Orchestra.

While at the Boston Conservatory of Music, Taylor also began studying composition and video game scoring through Boston’s pro-arts consortium at the Berklee College of Music. She then pivoted to music composition and earned her master’s degree from The Berklee College of Music’s campus in Valencia, Spain, at age 22.

Taylor has scored numerous video games as the sole composer, including the upcoming “Tearoom of Terror”, “Reclaim! Azhe-giiwewining”, “SLACKJAW”, "The Window Box", "Balthazar's Dream", "Design Hero", “Yandere Simulator,” and a song for "Witchy Life Story". She has also released two solo concept albums, "Tomography" and "The Disappearance of Emma Greene", as well as the arrangement album “The Last of Us: Remixed”. During this time, Taylor has also assisted various video game and film composers, and composed several commissioned works for percussion and electronics.

In 2025, her original soundtrack for her solo-developed video game “SLACKJAW,” including the original song “I’ve Been Watching You,” was nominated for best soundtrack at the Horror Game Awards.

Game Design:
Taylor’s first exposure to game development was in 2015, when she received a full scholarship to attend the "Designing Musical Games: Gaming Musical Design" workshop at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics. In mid-2021, Taylor returned to game design to teach herself the development software "Unreal Engine”.

In October 2022, her first foray into Unreal Engine earned her an honorable mention in Epic Games’ Halloween “Creep It Real” animation contest with her submission “What Goes On In Apartment 666…?”

In 2025, she released her first video game, the solo-developed "SLACKJAW" as her new game design studio: “Nostromo Interactive”. The project was developed over 18 months, with Taylor completing all aspects of the game, including its music. She is now working on Nostromo Interactive’s next project.
