Each lesson is customized to fit the students’ skills and interests, ensuring that they’re progressing and enjoying the process of making music. Students of any age and skill level are welcome, whether they are a beginner or have been a musician for years. We’ll keep things fun and go at the student’s pace! Students can expect to have A LOT of fun while learning to play pop songs on the piano or writing their own!

Taylor’s students have gone on to record their music in the Netherlands, record an album, score a video game, write a college musical, write a song for their middle school talent show, score a short film, get accepted into a film scoring graduate school, and much more. Students can use any software they have available.

If you would like to book a lesson at a time that is not shown in TakeLessons, please message Taylor through TakeLessons. She can work with you directly to find a time that works best.

A Note From Taylor

“I love getting people started composing or playing piano and watching them discover that they have a lot to say through music. It's a joy of mine. I also enjoy incorporating what YOU like into the lessons. Maybe in one lesson, we'll analyze Taylor Swift, and in the next, we'll be compositing an 8-bit video game track. Or maybe we'll discuss orchestration techniques and follow that up by working on a beautiful piano composition. You not only set the pace but you inspire WHAT and HOW we learn the topics you're interested in. Looking forward to seeing what inspires your creativity!”

Reviews

“Really supportive teacher. Fantastic attitude, and encouraging in supporting a student in pursing their own goals. I have already recommended her to several friends.” — Jon

“Taylor's approach to teaching has lead to me learning more about music composition and theory while working more on music, hitting all the goals I had hoped for when signing up; her first question was "what do you want to learn?", and she focused on creating a class structure that helped me do that in a way that's engaging to me, asking me to pull out songs I like so we can break them down or giving writing assignments to help drive my work and create accountability. I cannot recommend Taylor more. She will help you better understand music and hit the goals you ask her to help you hit.” — Marshall
